Cross posting GERS. Re the haircut! I said just a little bit off but she must have decided I'd look better if I went back to a pixie hairstyle again as that's what I got!! At least it will be easier to look after and tbh I don't dislike it either. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9

Morning! I've just been out and watered what's still alive and collected some seeds from what's gone over. I didn't allotment yesterday in the end, I cleaned up the other room ready for me to rip the wood out, did some cooking [ made a kind of chicken and spinach lasagne with the giant courgette as 'pasta' instead of ravioli. Next time I'll just make ravioli, it'll be nicer...It was nice but it looked awful. And I made coronotaion potato salad, as it sounds, very nice...Today I hae to take OHs mum to her MOT appointment, and then after, who knows...Ruby, what a draining day for you all, hopefully she's more comfortable after a couple of nights on the antibitics today and you're a bit more recovered. Camelot, do you not keep a compost bin thing going on your allotment? remmie, could you get your OH to make a meal plan or help with that? It's very tiring deciding what the menu will be every day...Allie, fingers crossed wasp removal goes smoothly. Gers, same problem re buying things...I just got a tap splitter thing and a knife sharpener but neither were strictly necessary, just more toys for me
What is the PG way of mouring? Actually, what is PG? TTB thanks for the recipe, I will try that in the future..Izzy, cake and pies! Right, I'm orf, take care all, enjoy the cooler weather!

Morning all from Mehefinland
I have had some results back from the prodding and poking brigade - Bloods are ok , but not such good news on the other sample - means I will have to go for the old camera jobbie at some point in the near future. Of course, it can be many things, and it's the right thing to do, but the news did come as a bit of a shock when the GP rang me.
Anyway, in the meantime I have decided to have a little get together on Friday next (1st August) with some few close friends and neighbours to raise a glass (or three!) , so it will give me something to concentrate on for a bit. Just nibbles and a glass , hopefully in the garden if the weather stays ok. Otherwise we will just have to cram into the house - all the best parties are in the kitchen they say lol.
The library is finally getting the upgrade on the toilet facilities done next week ,so that will be a major step forward.
We have applied for the Co-op Community funding again - we want to extend our outside garden and make a sensory area specifically for children ( there seem to be so many with problems these days).Won't find out until October/November if we have been successful in our application.
Have a dig in the freezer for something for tonight, although I don't feel much like eating at the moment. Will have to force myself.
Oh and my friend Hele took her horse to their first ever competition and came 3rd in the dressage. So pleased for her after all the trouble she has had with him. Took me back to the times when we were competing regularly, and the buzz of getting the rosette. Lot of fuss for a bit of cardboard and some ribbon - but oh the feeling was magic.
Time to go do something positive so hugs and spoons as always

Morning all
Dry here for now but rain due later, I went to mums yesterday and got all of her pyjamas etc and bought them home to wash, there were dirty ones amongst the clean so I thought it best to wash them all. My sister and I are trying to work out a plan to help her as it’s becoming evident that she is struggling.
I had the most terrible night I was still awake at 4 this morning 😩 so I feel a bit jaded this morning, I had to force myself to get up at 9 as I have my hospital appointment this morning, I will try and see mum after but it won’t be visiting time so I’m hoping they will let me sneak in for a while. Thanks for all the good wishes for mum, she had a better day yesterday and was still on the IV antibiotics which should help with the infection.
Dinner tonight will be pork chops mash and peas. I did the shopping yesterday which saves a job today.
Mehefin sorry the results were not better hopefully it’s something that can be sorted quickly xx
Have good days all and take care xx14 -
Morning all, thanks for starting @Gers. The weather yesterday turned out to be much better than forecast, dry with sun for most of the day and no rain or thunder. Today is looking fairly settled too although there is the usual mention of a chance of a rogue shower this afternoon.
My two new bathmats arrived yesterday less than an hour after I'd posted, same style just different colours. I'll give the old ones a wash and bung them in the CS bag. Two lots of washing done, dried on the airer, just to fold and put away today. Two admin jobs to do: (1) close a savings account that matures today and transfer to a different one for a slightly better interest rate (2) chase up a request for a change in DD for my rent that I thought would reduce automatically now that I get Housing Benefit but didn't. I'm new to all this benefit malarkey so what do I know? Tea tonight will be fish fingers in a bap with a few oven chips and salad on the side.
@Ruby - I was so sorry to read of the horrendous day you and your DM had at the hospital. If you do get to visit today, I hope you'll find her much improved and that your appointment goes well too.
@peony - Welcome back. It's difficult dealing with a loved one's paperwork, maybe do it in bite-sized pieces?
@AA - Good luck with that wasp's nest!
@Gers - I've been a bit spendy too of late but, in fairness, they have all been carefully considered purchases and not bought on a whim!
@TA - Enjoy Skipton today. Is there any chance of your bus buddy being able to get a sitter for her DH? Even small breaks from caring can make such a difference. Good job you don't mind the pixie cut!
@TTB - I need to do a freezer shuffle this weekend too. Not so much an inventory, just a re-jig so things are in the drawers I want them to be in.
@mehefin - Sorry to hear you need to have another investigation, fingers crossed it's just a precautionary measure. Good news on the library toilet upgrade though and well done to your friend, Hele.
Best wishes to all for a good day, hope the sleep fairies visit the sleepless tonight, take care, have a hug if you need one. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning everyone just in from a cleaning job I feel tired today no reason to I think it’s because it’s so muggy outside. I had a good baking day yesterday 6 pies and a couple of cakes and a dozen cheese scones I’ve decided I’ve got far to much sausage in the freezer I’m going to make some sausage rolls today I made some casserole last week well 6 although we have eaten one but the freezer isn’t going down I’m just take stuff out to make meals with and freezing the meals but it was all bargains and they have been in the freezer for to long at this rate it’s going to be Xmas before it has any room . Mehefin sorry to hear you need more tests easier said than done try not to worry and you know everybody on here is rooting for you . Ruby I hope you get to visit your mum today and hopefully things will start to improve for her . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

-taff said:What is the PG way of mouring? Actually, what is PG?Meant to write PNG - Papua New Guinea. And mourning can be very complicated, my experience of it was for my late oldest nephew's funeral when the large number of his wife's (daughter of the newly deceased man) family sang mourning songs for a good while. It was quite haunting. From AI: Papua New Guinea has a rich tradition of mourning songs, often performed at a haus krai (wake or mourning house). These songs, deeply rooted in animistic beliefs and cultural practices, express grief, honor the deceased, and facilitate the transition to the spirit world. They are a vital part of the cultural fabric, reflecting the community's history and shared experiences. The family are also deeply religious which adds to the mix.
