SAD FART for a Freezer

We purchased a Beho freezer on 31 December 2023, although we had paid for it to be delivered, so we received it in January 2024. The seal has now gone as of today. It was purchased from Currys. I know it isn't covered under the 12-month warranty, and we never purchased extra protection. However, Martin mentions SADFART, and I wondered if this product should come under this. And who should I contact, Bekp or Currys? Thank You

Consumer rights are with the retailer - So Currys. You'll need to have a report done to show the seal failed early as it was somehow faulty at the time of purchase, but has now only just failed. If the report goes in your favour, you can get this refunded. Currys can repair, replace oe refund, choosing the most economical option. If they refund, they can deduct a % for the use you've had.0

Hello OP
After 6 months from delivery onus falls on the consumer to show the goods did not conform (in this case were not of satisfactory quality) and typically that requires an inspection from an appliance repair type person.
Can the seal be replaced as a DIY?
Whilst Currys should cover the cost of an inspection you’ll face some resistance (as getting money out of anyone is like getting blood from a stone) and there may be a question of whether a seal is a part you’d expect to wear out at some point (although I can’t say I would think such after just 2 and after years) but if you can get the part cheap and are able to replace, it might be easier. If you decided to go down the consumer rights road that is with Currys as the retailer, anything the manufacturer offers outside of a warranty would be goodwill (or more likely the manufacturer will offer a service of fixing the fridge for a fee).In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Thank you. I will speak to customer services at Currys tomorrow and see how I get on. I know of a washer repairman but not a freezer one.0
