Car Purchase

Options
Hello!

I'm probably being naive and stupid.

I purchased a car recently (Renault Megane E-Tech), advertised with 1,743 miles from an Arnold Clark Renault Dealer. It is two years old and there was a disclaimer saying it had been previously owned by a business so multiple people will have driven it.  I traded in my old car settling the previous finance and paying 1,500 toward it (I had negative equity)

I wasn't too concerned by the disclaimer as it only had 1,743 miles

The sales person told me it was a demo vehicle, which gave me some more re-assurance that the vehicle was well looked after and there was a missing key but one would be delivered to my house. I signed the contracts and took the car away.

After I got home - I realised I'd completely forgotten to ask about service history, service history was not mentioned in the advert, however I did just assume it would be there considering it was a car owned by the dealer. I called up and the lady at the desk said it was digital and I'd receive it within 10 days. I then noticed that the mileage was actually 8,722. (there was a trip counter on there with 1,743 miles on it, and then the odometer said 8,722). I felt stupid for not realising, but contacted the dealer to let them know, as excess miles were charged at 15p per mile, and obviously the value of the car would be affected.

The next day I got a call saying that the error had been fixed and I'd receive new finance documents. I said I'd read over. They'd put a discount of £336 on the car.

I said that I didn't feel that this was worth it, and they've now offered a £1,000 discount on the car, and a care pack work £330. They've said that the car was serviced 3 weeks ago, and they'll upload the service details to the Renault site so i can see them on the app, but the first years' service is missing because the dealer was originally Renault Retail group and bought over by Arnold Clark in Dec 24. They say they'll try and recoup it.

I have found 13 cars of the same year and trim on Auto trader and cars around 8,722 are priced at around 1,200 to 1,800 less than the price I've paid for the car. The nearest mileage to the advertised was 4,500 and cost the same as what I've paid.

Should I accept the £1,000 discount and care pack?

Good old Arnold Clark, their habits have never changed.

Without evidence of all services being carried out you may have no warranty cover for the battery.  That does need resolving.

Did you receive a battery health check certificate?  That's something I'd advise anyone buying an EV to have.

The service interval on that car is every 2 years or 18000 miles, so I don’t see a problem here.
