Parking Ticket Help

Options
We are currently renting a property and we have 2 parking bays, I have recieved 5 parking tickets in one go from my car lease company, these were from the parking management with fines that I was not displaying a permit. this is in a residential block, there is no payment options if that makes a difference.

I emailed them to appeal, long story short i explain we are renting here and are new. Basically at the start of the year we had a house fire that destroyed our entire house and everything we own. This has taken a huge toll on us all, and affected us all mentally. We are doing a lot of running back and forth to our house and on occassions I have forgotten to display the permit, as we have a lot going on.

I explained this to them and today recieved an email saying I still own the money for the fines and they will take action etc.

This bay is a numbered bay for the flat we are currently living in, the only person who stands to lose out is me by someone else parking in my bay. On 3 occasions I have contacted the parking management about people been in my bay and i cannot park only to be told there is nothing they can do at the moment and they will send someone out later.

Their response stated:
"The fact you are a permit holder is not in dispute, however, as a permit holder you are aware of the fact a permit must be displayed and the result of non-display. As per the signage, retrospective evidence of authority to park is not accepted. The parking scheme is in place due to historical parking issues at the development. The scheme offers security and exclusivity to resident bays by combating parking issues. For the basis of treating all residents fairly and equally, all vehicles parking otherwise than in accordance with the conditions must be dealt with the same way, otherwise the parking control provides no protection to the residents."

It doesnt combat parking issues as its not constantly monitored, just as and when they decide to visit, could be lunchtime, could be 10pm. The only person that is affected is me as it is my bay, and I'm ok with that. and when people have parked in my bay and I couldnt park and contacted them I was told there was nothing they could do.

where do I stand with this? any advice is appreciated. Thank you

Name the private parking company involved

Complain about them all to the management company

Check out the terms and conditions regarding parking,  in your lease or tenancy agreement

That's the trouble with Parking Companies (PPCs) infecting residential areas, they catch the residents not the miscreants and, as you found, they do not MANAGE the car pak, they issued spurious invoices.  Check the NEWBIE sticky for all information.  Do you have a lease; what does it say about parking, more importantly what does it not say?

Firstly I would never have moved into a place with parking firm signs and 'permits'. It is such a risk, such a moneymaking con, that I wouldn't even visit a friend living in such a place. These parking scam estates are absolute no-go area for drivers. I'd be looking to move out and I'm not joking. It's that serious. These firms ruin lives. Avoid such places like the plague.

    Which PPC?

Ignore them unless you move house (which we encourage you to consider seriously and tell the landlord why). You must ensure that you see ALL letters. Laugh at the ones shown in pictures in the NEWBIES thread.

Come back if and when they issue a claim.

Search the forum for PPM parking claim.  You should find cases as we are familiar with them and we beat them easily. Relax!

But you must tell them when you move. And next time move to a car park with no parking firm signs in it at all. You can't live like this.

But this one will pursue you with the daft threatograms shown in pictures in the NEWBIES thread (ignore) and possibly a court claim (do not ignore).

Now read this message and please prepare to join us to do the Public Consultation once we've discussed it in August.

It's vital the Government hears from Defendants threatened by debt collectors who do not offer resolution and are a worse option than court.

Tell your story. Shoehorn it in somewhere, maybe in answer to why cases go to court (q13 or 14):

Please bookmark the main thread linked in that link.

I bet you want to join us and tell the Government that the added £70 is a complete joke. Why are people with disputed charges being threatened with £170 charges?

This makes people refuse to engage, as court is a far better option and the only dispute resolution offered.
The DRA fee MUST BE COMPLETELY BANNED. This stage is torture. Tell the MHCLG!

Come back in August to take part.

We need to drown out the 'alternative facts' from the parking industry and their relatives posing as ordinary motorist consumers.
