What's happened to my Acer!?

  • Hi all,

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I was thinking of pruning the acer within the next few weeks. Nothing too drastic and under 6 inches.

Would you agree or advise differently?

    Thanks!

Don't know where you are but we've had the first frost here down south.

I would wait for a mild spell.
Here's a good bit of advice on pruning maples.

I think given the shape and the leafless branch on the left of the picture being so big I'd carefully prune the smaller branches that side to start to bring it down to the same level as the right hand one. Then if it thrives bring it down to match next year.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
