ok so I've had insurance for 20 years driving with 20 years NCB.
I have it on renew and today was out with my 2 year old and 90 year old mum, when pulled over, an police said I had no insurance, I said I had it for 20 years always paid, an it came up it had lasped and the payment had failed, an because I moved flats I didnt get any warning letters. Everyone has said dont go to court as its expensive £2k+. But now I look at insurance an on moneycompare its like £4,000!!.
I have 4 businesses, a 2 year old, I'm in a jam an dont know to do.
Is there any insurance companies cheaper?

As to cheaper companies? Maybe, you have to shop around like everyone else. In addition to the normal routes if you google in10 car insurance you will find some niche brokers that claim to be better for those with serious motoring convictions... if they are or arent you can only tell by getting quotes from them and comparing them to regular vendors.0 -
As above, you need to ensure that the vehicle V5C and your driving licence are updated with the correct address as there can be fines for that too.
Also, if you have any parking tickets etc they will have gone to the address of the registered keeper so check you old address for correspondence.
However, not noticing a missed payment for a major expense is pretty lax and as just about all insurers have your email as first point of contact, didn't you receive several emails asking you to pay and then advising it had lapsed?

Just in case anyone sees this, in same situation, manage to get insurance, tried Tiger and Performance Direct, they ended up giving me a better price than what I pay normal with no points.2
