Has anyone used a double glazed window repair company?

Did you and were you happy with the costs?
The money you paid was the savings more than 50%?
Did the repair last?

Glass pannels are big, about 2mts x 800mm x 20mm - K glass.

I'm pretty sure many did. And if they weren't happy with the cost they wouldn't.
    Savings compared to what?
Replacing glass units vs replacing windows? In this case I think savings are considerably bigger than 50%.
Repairing glass units vs replacing them? I've heard many negative reports. Such 'repairs' don't last long.

Replace failed sealed units, companies advertising a repair surely turn up and say that the sealed unit needs replacing. :)

Can't imagine you making huge savings tbh.

We had 3 panels replaced on our dorma window last year. It was really cheap, something like £350 for three 1m by 50 cm panels, but the older thinner double glazing thickness. We used a mate of a mate though, whose basically the local window guru for our area. We had them replaced because they were clouded and looked rubbish. Never crossed my mind that it might save any money. Replacing the glass units rather than the whole window should be a lot cheaper obviously, but whether it's worth changing them depends on how bad they are.

Double glazed units are rarely repaired once they blow.  Normal practice is to replace the unit, not the entire window including frame.

Yes, as per my preivous post, they are looking at the glass only, ie a lot quicker and cheaper.
The units are big about 2 mts tall, ie as per my previous post

I've been looking on Google before posting this thread. Some companies around that repair, but I have not noted their feedback as there appears to be none

We looked at replacing just the glass, and the price was almost 500 per unit. The company that did the windows years ago went bust this year just like many other companies.

I had 8 panes in two bedrooms and a landing replaced, plus a broken hinge fixed by a local "Window Doctor". Frames were 40 year old UPVC in good condition apart from one broken hinge. Total cost £1K. Would have been over £3K to replace them all.

If the replacement sealed units use low-E glass, you may well notice a reduction in heat loss during the winter.

Have to admit I don't know what glass was used, apart from they were argon filled (maybe all modern ones are?) They have been through one winter without problems and are in a dormer roof anyway, with the usual heating issues.
