National Insurance gap in the year I was a carer

2018 - 2019 I gave up work to care for my 17 year old daughter who had cancer.
didn't claim any benefits and my husband continued to work. We got a small claim from critical illness cover to help with the mortgage payments. My daughter could claim PIP.
Having just looked through my NI record this is the only year where there is a gap.
It seems because I didn't claim Carer's Allowance which I didn't know I could (or perhaps I couldn't?) I didn't get NI credits.
I have also missed the 6 year cut off date to make up the non-payment.
Does anyone know if there is anyway I can pay anything for that year? Thanks

Do you actually need the 'missing year'? What does your state pension forecast currently show? Are you working now or receiving NI credits?0

I'm not working now nor receiving NI credits ... so will have approx another ten years of no NI contributions, plus the four incomplete years when I worked when a student.

You'll be able to buy the future years (if you can afford of course).. will you still be short of what you need. Unfortunately backdating of carer's allowance or carer's credit won't get back that far.
Look at her claiming PIP if she has disablements now and you then claiming CA. In fact look at getting a full benefit calculation - entitledto is one of the websites to try... for you and your husband... and separately your daughter."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

Check your State Pension forecast - GOV.UK
You almost certainly don't need every year filled to qualify for a full state pension and from the sound of it have ten possible future years where you could potentially earn credits or make voluntary contributions without having to try to fil lthat back year (which from the sound of it you are now too late too do anyhow).

You are beyond claiming that missing year but as others have said do you actually need it. You need to look at what you actually have rather than looking at what is missing. Your forecast may have 2 or more amounts. The big green box will tell you what you can expect to achieve going forward, if that is the full amount then there is no need to panic, you can get there. The next figure will show what you have achieved so far and how many more years you need to get to the full amount and if that big green box is not the full amount there will be a third amount of how much you can get by filling past gaps.0
