Can you tell me what to expect on the day of the hearing as it is due tomorrow, getting slightly anxious?

Eureka, I won.  My case was yesterday, but have been on a bit of a high.

The whole day was very scary, and to be honest, I nearly backed out.  That is what the intimidating does to you.  I prepared a crib sheet (a shortened version of my WS) as advised and had all my paperwork and exhibits ready.

The claimant’s solicitor did not try to speak to me before, but I think that was because my husband was with me.  Once in the court, he gave the judge his half hour version of the reasons I was at fault and owed the money, a total of £764 for 3 parking invoices. Each for parking on double yellow lines in the same place over 2 weeks. An area without proper signage.

I proceeded to tell the judge the area did not have clear and sufficient signage, and used my images and videos as evidence.  Even though the solicitor came with the information of 16 signs in the area, he neglected to realise that there was 2 ways in to the area, and I was in the area where there was only one sign which related to a costa staff bay only, which is not where I was parked, and it did not come before the yellow lines.  He also tried to say that white junction markings at the beginning of the turning, would have been significant division between private land and public land.  I then stated, that would mean all road junctions which I turn into, would mean I was entering private land. The judge agreed and dismissed the case as there was insufficient clear signage for me to know where to park.

Felt completely relived and slightly overwhelmed.

Congratulations. Sounds a well prepared rep as well, so extra kudos for making him look the fool.

Brilliantly done!  Congrats! Did you remember to ask for costs?

    ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!

If you had not turned up yesterday you'd have almost certainly lost AND you'd have been held liable for their rep's 3 figure travel and attendance costs because the court would have held you as unreasonable. You'd have been ordered to pay close to £1000, so ... thank goodness you put your big ballooncowgirl pants on and saw this scam off!

     :)

But we need you - please read this message and take time (you and hour husband with different words, but same messages) this month to do the vital current Public Consultation:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/81552148/#Comment_81552148

It's important that the Government hears from people like you with unfair charges who are dealing with scary court claims. That's when you win ... but most people don't know that. You found out by getting dragged to a hearing that your PCNs were meritless all along. Had there been an impartial appeals service that would have spared you court.

The link shows the two vital points to concentrate on, IMHO:

    - banning 'fee' add-ons completely.

    - making sure a new SINGLE appeals service replaces POPLA and the IAS which are seen as not fully independent and involved in a 'race to the bottom'.

Click through to the main thread about the Consultation.

Do not be deterred by the fact that some questions are for the parking industry only.

We are currently discussing how to respond. Please join us in doing this Consultation before it closes in three weeks. This is your one chance to make a difference re the proper regulation of private parking.

    Brilliant!

We need all drivers to know about this and I'm hopeful MSE Towers might get the MHCLG public consultation in the weekly email in good time, to drum up more consumer input. I'm on the case with that.

reminded myself that my great grandmother was a suffragette and would not have backed down.
Amazing! Sounds very much like my grandmother who was one of the 'women who ran towards bombs' (air raid warden):

I like to think I'm a woman after her own heart. Despite being from a completely different era and not really being allowed/expected to work, in her heyday she was very like me in lots of ways, I remember.

Amazing women who went before us and lead us by their example. Let's hope we can make them proud and perhaps our daughters, granddaughters, sons and grandsons, will do the same when they need to. 📢🚗

I'll check for updates and share with other motorist friends. Good luck 🍀
