We’ve just been trying on our wedding outfits!
Hubby tried on his suit for the first time since collecting after alterations made to the sleeves and it’s not good!
He looks like a year 9 boy does at the end of the school year when still wearing the blazer bought for them at the start if year 7!
Everything else is fine ( as wasn’t altered) just the sleeves of the jacket.
All was done in store and using the store tailor.
Do we have any “rights” at all in the situation?
Thanks

Yes, if a tailor sold you the suit then measured and adjusted the suit incorrectly, you have a right to a refund or for the sleeves to be corrected.  If it can't be corrected because too much material has been removed then you're entitled to a refund or a replacement adjusted properly.

Why did he not try ikt on when he collected it?

    Who did the measurements?

The shop who sold him the suit measured and did the alterations.
As for the trying on … I asked hubby why he didn’t and he said because he went to collect and it was all packaged up with no offer of being able to try it on; his naivety as well never having had anything altered before 🥴
Suppose there’s trust there as well .. you expect a company who does this day in day out to know what they’re doing!
We were told when he had it fitted that it would be a couple of weeks until collection as their tailor was on holiday which was no problem as we didn't need it until October.
Then we get a text to say the suit was ready the following week!!

Take it back and explain the problem.  I'm sure they'll sort it out.  Sounds like a classic case of "measure twice, cut once" not happening, or someone's misread the written measurements. We've all done it with DIY projects, mistakes happen.

A long time ago, I used to hire out suits for weddings. Many people tried them on with a not all shirt and claimed the sleeves were too short, but when they tried them with a double cuff shirt with cufflinks they looked spot on.

TL;DR suits for weddings have shorter sleeves to accommodate a proper double cuff shirt with cufflinks.
