in Credit cards
I am having work done to extend the kitchen. I have cash in an ISA that will cover the cost but am thinking I could pay via credit card then use balance transfer to get up to 33 months interest free while earning interest in my cash ISA. My builder doesn't accept credit card payments so my question is what methods are available to use a credit card to pay a contractor?

You can't.
All you could do is a use a money transfer card, to transfer funds to your bank account. Then pay via what means they take. Guess that will be bank payment.
Biggest issue would be getting a decent limit.Life in the slow lane0 -
If you take the approach of using a money transfer card, ensure your dates and time limits are rock solid. That is if you get a card and you have to use the money transfer facility by a certain date, ensure the building work is complete by then. If the building work overruns and the facility is no longer available, how will you pay? With the money in your ISA? Or just take the money from the card and have it waiting in a (savings) account whilst you pay the card back?0

The other alternative is to apply for a Money Transfer card, similar to a BT card but typically slightly higher fees and shorter interest free period. With this you can move the money to your current account and then pay them normally. Note as the actual payment to the builder isnt by credit card then there is no S75 protection from this.0
