Chimney on survey

The buyers of our house have had a survey done on our house. One of the things that came up was the potential removal of a load bearing chimney stack. There is a chimney on the outside wall in the house but there is nothing in the house to indicate that there was ever a chimney on the inside (no fireplaces, no chimney stack going up through the roof etc). None of the other houses in the street have any internal chimney/fireplace either (all the same 1950s build with an external chimney). Our survey didn’t mention anything about this either when we bought the house. So got me thinking, what could the chimney have been used for?

External chimneys don't have a chimney breast inside, so there's no need to remove anything to gain extra internal space. The fireplaces must Have been blocked up.
Have you got a external photo?0 -
It was a corner chimney for the kitchen. Some of the chimney breast was probably removed to allow the corner to be squared off. The chimney stack should be supported if this was done.
It's a bit different to the external chimney breast I was thinking of.0
