External cladding- what type? Insulation?

This is the front of my home- we had a garage conversation about 20 years ago, wanting to add some cladding , on to it to make it look better also to add sound and heat insulation. Some of our neighbours have had Fortex- Naturclad-Hardie Plank fitted to their properties , unfortunately non of them have a garage conversion, and are different styles of homes, all built in 1960.
Has anyone done anything similar? Able to give me some advice?

Well, if it's a single-skin wall and there's no insulation inside, you need to add really a LOT of insulation to comply with the current regulations.1

I think it is a single - skin wall, but there was plenty of insulation put in on the inside, we had building regulations signed off and everything at the time. The roof was redone about 5 years ago and is. ‘Warm’ roof.
But with the price of fuel, I think insulation, insulation, insulation0 -
With all the different brickwork sections between the windows and doors, and things at different heights and widths, any boarding-like cladding is going to look very bitty in my opinion. You might want to look at rendering instead which will look a lot more uniform.Make £2026 in 2026

Photoshop/Paint is your friend!
Surf for pics, short list what you like, and then crudely add to a straight-on pic of your house.
Keep an eye out for other houses in the hood - no shortage of cladding ideas around here, from hellish to nifty.
Even think about contrasts - buff brick and charcoal can work.
