Hi, hope this is the right board to ask this on!
I got a new laptop last year which came with a years free Norton but it's now up for renewal , it's only ever connected at home via my Virgin broadband. Do I need to renew the virus protection or would the broadband be enough? If so are there are any cheaper providers as the Norton renewal is £80. Thank you!

If you are using Windows as your OS, as long as it's Windows 11 then Microsoft's own antivirus and security is perfectly adequate along with whatever your browser adds in.
No need to pay for anything and suggest you remove Norton and all its remnants as soon as possible, guides for a full uninstall are available online.
You'll probably find your computer is faster and has a bit more spare memory for other tasks.
A few people will probably suggest the free version of Malwarbytes, personally I have lived without that for years without any issues.
Edit : Don't buy any extras from VM either.

I too just use the built in AV provided as part of Windows plus the free version of Malwarebytes.
Having said that, if you really feel the need to use an additional virus protection service then you can get Norton 360 Premium covering 10 devices for 2 years for £19.99 through a PCpro /Computer Active magazines promotion.Their software store link is

Alternatively, take a look at one of their magazines for details.0
