Today is 13th August and Outfox The Market (OFTM) have just launched their Aug25 V2.0 tariffs.
I'm currently a dual fuel BG customer on a 12 month fix that expires on 1st October.
MSE pointed me to OFTM so I cranked the figures into my spreadsheet....
Unbelievable!
The OFTM August v1.0 Fix rates are actually below what I'm currently paying to BG!
I spoke with "Customer Retentions" at BG and they confirmed my calculations and admitted that they couldn't match anywhere near the OFTM August v1.0 rates.
I tried to switch this evening but got kicked out - only to discover that the v2.0 tariff had been launched this evening - even cheaper than the v1.0
So ask yourself a simple question - do you honestly believe that energy prices will drop in the next 12 or 24 months?
So why am I posting this?
Spreadsheets don't tell lies..... if you control them and enter all the data...
BTW, both my meters are "Dumb" but I have a diary and a weekly read is taken and entered into another spreadsheet...
Oh, and I went for the 24 month fix - look at the figures that the suppliers are suggesting the prices will rise in the next 12 months (around 6%).
So it's goodbye BG and hello OFTM!

Know one knows what will happen within the next 2 years far too many factors in play.
Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
Wholesale prices are pretty much as low now as they have been at any point in the past year, so whilst no one can say where they go from here the short term effect is that slightly cheaper fixes are becoming available, and predictions for future price caps (beyond the next one where a very modest increase is now pretty much baked in) are likely to reflect this as well.
Suppliers have no more idea than anyone else where they might be in a year, let alone two years, from now.
