Hi there,
Just starting to paint the back room and noticed this mess round the rim of the window looks like chalk has been used. Has anyone got any tips to remove and how to go to repair it after. s it case I will have to cut it out like I have started to do that on this section then sand and fill in. Any advice is appreciated

If it's decorators caulk and a mess, remove it, re-caulk it and finish with a caulking tool.0

Yes it needs doing all round if you want a good finish.
I did some cracks in door frames here when I moved in. Looked a treat but a couple of years on it discoloured and you could see where I hadn't fully wiped it off so more of a mess than what I'd attempted to fix.
It takes longer to clean up than it does to do the finishI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
