Morning everyone
Well that's our big children left nursery and all ready for school, some of the mums were quite emotional. I was home by 2 and spent the afternoon across at my friends house.
The rain started and was torrential at times with thunder and it's to continue all weekend. I'm going to get little ones' bedroom here painted...not a job I like doing! They got to Butlins safely after a long drive...unfortunately they're forecast rain for the weekend too.
Scarlet - lovely for you to have your son and his family visiting
TA - lovely too for you to have your granddaughters all together.
Mehefin - I hope your village fete goes well
Ruby - good to here your time with your new lad went well and that Rob is ok
Oh has anyone got any recommendations for audio books for my dad? He was reading a JD Kirk Logan series and got to about book 11 when he declared he couldn't read any more as the swearing had got so bad.
He likes anything to do with detectives, murder, a bit of mystery...and with the main character a man!
Right I'm going to get started . Hope everyone has a good day x9 -
Morning All
In the middle of a power cut hopefully due back on around 11.30. Unexpected so may need to go a few villages along for a coffee as all electric or oil here.

Morning all, thanks @Gers for the start. We didn't get any of the promised rain or thunderstorms yesterday but it was a humid day and got even muggier as the night wore on. Today we're forecast thundery showers with a light breeze that I think might be right this time as it's now started drizzling.
I had a surprise visitor late last night in the form of the biggest spider I've ever seen - one of those big, fat, hairy ones. I don't mind small ones but this one had to go - I couldn't have gone to bed knowing that was in the house! Successfully evicted but my late DH got a mental telling off for not being here as that was always his job. Still, another "first" accomplished.
I've just done this month's meter readings to send off (probably the lowest usage of the year) and I have a birthday card for DD to write out ready for posting during the week. Other than that I don't have any plans for the weekend but I'm sure I'll find something to amuse myself with!Tea tonight is a mushroom risotto with a lemon cream cup for afters.
@Scarlet - You'll miss your relatives now they've gone but it's good you've enjoyed time with them.
@TA - It's nice to know your DGDs want to spend time with you. Like you, I'm vertically challenged and wouldn't be surprised if Nursie tells me next week I've shrunk a bit more - currently an inch over 5 feet.
@Gers - Great to hear you got the 10% discount on your glasses but not so good on the delivery price for the plants. Smart move getting them delivered to your friend.
@TTB - Lovely photos.
@mehefin - Happy litter picking, I'll keep my fingers crossed the rain doesn't spoil the village fete.
@Coxy - Enjoy the tribute act today, Fleetwood Mac are one of my all-time favourites.
@Izzy - Happy to hear your new sofa arrived and you can sit comfortably again.
@NRA - I hope your power isn't off for too long.
Enough waffle, so I'll wish you all a good day whatever your plans might be, take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -

Right I'm going to get started . Hope everyone has a good day xHow about the two 'Frank Grasby' books from the now late Denzil Meyrick. They were a departure from his DI Daley series. Set in 1952 they are such a gentle, quirky and interesting move into different times. Very funny and very accurate. The third, and now final one, The Mistletoe Wedding Murders won't be published until November 2026.Murder at Holly House The Christmas Stocking Murders
I have them both on audio and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Morning all, wet and gloomy here, but we've just been up to the park with Ldog our new 2 us pooch
. Yesterday was a bit crazy, we'd seen him but someone else was looking too.The owners were moving to rented accomodation where dogs were not allowed.Really upset at letting him go but could see we would give him a good home. we were in the car for 1 1/2 hours near the motorway, I think there'd been an accident but he travelled really well He's been really good so far and didn't hear a peep from him during the night. I had to leave him in DH and DS1s capable hands when I went to watch DGS leavers assembly- very moving, gulp, lots of people wiping a tear away.
I have read back but that was before we went out and as I was catching up on a couple of days worth I can't remember much now but hope you are all okI think tea will be a takeaway curry tonight- not had one for ages.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
