Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
I haven't posted for a while because our Australian family were visiting, they've now moved on. It was so good to see them, we haven't had a very good year so far and it really brightened us up to see ds1, dil, and our 3 lovely grandsons.
It's looking grey and gloomy out there, warm though. The thunderstorms didn't reach us , but I wouldn't be surprised if we had a storm today.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks..17 -
Morning allMy, what a sticky night. It's pouring with rain now and not due to cease until at least 10am. At least I won't have to water the garden! No plans today apart from making a lemon sponge later and stripping the bed and remaking it.Glad you enjoyed your visitors from down under Scarlet.Have a good day all x16

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Well we didn't get the promised overnight thunderstorms, nor even any rain at all. They are still forecasting it for most of the w/e so I suppose it will happen eventually.
Eldest DGD's visit yesterday ended up with all 3 of them calling. Youngest had an early finish at school for the summer holiday and middle one had already finished after her O levels so all 3 descended. They are growing up too quickly and it doesn't seem 2 minutes since I was nappy changing them all! Youngest was bemoaning the fact that she is still not growing so we all did a height check! Eldest is 5ft 6ins and youngest 4ft 11ins - an inch smaller than her shrinking grandma! Middle one half way between us all!
Plans today are weather dependent. If the rain holds off I want to pop down into town and maybe onwards to the next little town but if heavy rain appears I will stay home. I won't have to look far for something to keep me occupied .Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care, stay safe, especially if in the path of the storm. x

Good morning
No rain here yet, but very dull, so I think it's on it's way.
I did my shop yesterday, bought a large chicken, will make some sausage meat stuffing and cook it today in the air fryer. OH will have hot chicken and stuffing baguettes tonight and I'll do a roast tomorrow with the rest, hopefully they'll be some left for sandwiches. Like izzy I'm fed up with cooking the same old, so trying to get my mojo back.
Other than that nothing planned, pottering indoors if we get the storms.
Scarlet, glad you enjoyed your visitors.
Have a good day all, keep dry.14 -
Morning all
It’s just spitting a bit if rain here - badly need a good storm as the air is so still however I’m not wishing for floods!Yesterday was very productive, van all cleaned and a load of wood chopped and shaped. Lots of sanding to do now but I can do that in stages. There’ll be a walk at some point today depending on what the weather decides to do. Probably some chores and more craft stuff.Have a good day all.AA14 -
Welcome back @Scarlet - we have missed you! Lovely to hear about your visiting family, it's precious time. The defect on the frame of my new glasses was so miniscule that it's really inconsequential, I was happy to take them both. Got great customer service as the optician gave me a 10% discount on the total price so that made me even happier. For whoever recommended Lidl's Portuguese tarts many thanks, they were spot on! I did a swerve into the big one before the optician and was delighted to find a wee nest of them. They looked so much better than the £4.00 offering from a local bakery. Thanks for the heads up.Apart from that, and posting off a wee parcel, I didn't do any shopping. I have enough stuff in the fridge to use up. My gardener was still here when I arrived home. She'd filled five big green garden bags with detritus from under the now gone thuggish bushes. And that's only from half of the area. My chives have made a reappearance as has the single helebore. I went online to order some new plants, more inula hookeri and geums Mrs Bradshaw, both missing presumed dead in the undergrowth. Shockingly, the delivery price to me was going to be £25.00 so I'm having them sent to my friend Alan in Glasgow for the price of £8.00. I've have an overnight visit when they arrive. The nasty midge bite is responding to the horse pills, it still looks bad but is certainly much less sore and swollen.Whilst the air is mild here and the sky is bright white with wispy blue bits I'm not sure that it'll stay fine. The forecast for the south-east of England looks particularly dire with a widespread amber rain warning. Stay indoors all those down that way.Hope all's well @mehefin- stress can do funny things to our bodies. I comfort eat whilst others comfort fast, it's not always obvious.Take care everyone. Hugs to all.PS - that's such a great report about your new client @Ruby and well done for sticking to your guns about the money.12

Good morning 😊
I didn’t get chance to visit yesterday, as we ended up doing an 18km hike with significant elevation gain. By the time we got home, I was so shattered, I didn’t even eat dinner, it was just a shower and bed. It was a lovely walk through fields and woods, although there was an awful lot of horse manure and cow pat to navigate, and several rickety stiles. We started off in one county, edged through another, and ended up in a third. As far as terrain though, I think it was the most difficult we’ve done, but the views were stunning.Today, we are home bound 🤣
I don’t plan on doing much, other than a minced beef lasagne, and a lentil version for myself. I completed all my paperwork on Thursday - thankfully - and now just need to send it all off, which I will do on either Monday, or Tuesday. I have the washing machine going, but it has just started raining, so may need to hang stuff in the house. (I’m trying not to use the tumble drier, unless absolutely necessary). It’s only our hiking outfits, so we won’t need them until possibly next Friday, or Sunday.
Superman was a good film. We enjoyed that on Thursday. I didn’t buy anything food wise from the cinema, but looking at prices whilst we waited to go in, and it’s shocking how much even a tub of popcorn costs.
Copious amounts of coffee will be consumed in the next few hours.
Hope you all have a good day 😊11 -
Morning all from drizzly Mehefinland
Bit of a rinse and repeat today as it did this yesterday and then cleared up into a reasonably warm and sunny day. Well I hope it does as it's the infamous village fete today . Going to pop down shortly and do an in initial litter pick as it seems to be one of those open areas which just attracts litter!
@Gers Thanks for the insight on comfort fasting- I hadn't considered that I may be guilty of this. However the vampires took half an armful yesterday so we will see what comes from that. My geums were an absolute riot of colour earlier in the summer and have just gone yuk too. They were some I grew from seed some years back and nurtured. Think a good deadheading may revitalise them - its just finding the oomph to go do it. They are pretty resilient though.
Time to gird up me loins and get me picker upper out. Have a good day everyone - whatever the weather!
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
A bit of rain overnight here and we’re bracing ourselves for what’s to come. BFF and her DH are coming later as we have a Fleetwood Mac tribute act in the nearby town (indoors thankfully). We will have a take out Chinese meal tonight so I just need to shop for snacks and bacon sarnie provisions.Lovely for you to have the tonic of a family visit @ScarletRibbons x.Hope the fete goes well @mehefinCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings12 -
