Bad quality bedroom furniture in Argos

When I moved house recently I decided to purchase a new bedroom set. Being on a tight budget I went with an Argos set. It was the next to cheapest set in there I thought it would be reasonably good quality I was a bit wrong!
The bed broke in so many places because of large knots in the very cheap wood it was made from. The headboard section broke in several places when lent on. 4 of the slats underneath broke 2 when the matress went on it and 2 when we sat on it. The matress was lovely, the bedside cabinet, wardrobe and 4 drawer set are very basic but ok. The bed however was awful. Trying to get it exchanged with Argos was so annoying as we wanted to keep the matress and they said we couldnt as it was part of the set blah blah and then looking at upgrading the package and not being able to afford much more was annoying. The bed and matress only worked out at around £60 pounds refund value apparently and to buy a nice bed on its own with a matress was more expensive.
We ended up buying a bed from somewhere else and its lovely.

It feels better now for having a rant.

Unfortunately, with beds, you really do get what you pay for (up to a point of course!). I have tried to economise with a cheap bed frame before, and regretted it, for similar reasons as you have stated. I see that you recevied £60 refund - even though it isn't enough for a new bed, I am glad you have found something that suits!
