Good morning, thanks Gers.
A wet start here, but temperatures due to rise to 25, before the forecast thunderstorms tomorrow.
Not much happening here, only a trip to Lids to look forward to (?). I have a free pasta sauce to pick up, so must remember that.
Ruby, I hope your day with the new lad went well.
Have a good day all, take care.12 -
Up and them this morning. I've got a return to take to the delivery office and then I'll be heading up to the big town for an optician's appointment. I ordered two new pairs of glasses the other week so they need collected. The optician phoned to say that one pair has a defect on the frame so I'll check if I want to take it or have another new frame instead. The garden maintenance chap came yesterday afternoon, along with his young son. They worked like mad things to cut back three big bushes (thought there were only two), cut down the old dead rose, planted a new rose in a cardboard box with new soil, cut down the dead clematis skeleton, tidied up the elderflower tree and finally pruned back the climbing hydrangea from round the windows. I was very pleased but worried as the rain started after about an hour though they insisted on finishing. They were well worth the money. This morning my regular gardener is coming, she's relishing the chance to clear out all the stuff from under where the bushes were. The underplants haven't been able to grow properly or thrive as they've been hidden under the huge number of spreading branches.Meanwhile, the ABs are starting their magic. The bite is no longer sore to touch though the nastiness remains. This morning I struggled to swallow the capsule, first it got stuck and then I coughed it up. It's gone now, washed down by warm water which softened the shell a little. Better that than the infection.I won't be buying anything in the big town, I have loads of odds and ends to use up. I hope that all are doing OK and keeping well. Hugs to all.12

Hi everyone,
It's been a while RL getting in the way which I suppose is a good thing, I didn't read yesterday's thread till nearly midnight and I've just been skimming so if I've missed anything important I'm sorry.
We had a lovely time in Yorkshire, managed a couple of decent walks and caught up with my brother who I haven't seen since before Covid (if that sounds ages I have three brothers who I haven't seen since mum's funeral about 14 years ago). I also went to see my favourite aunt who is in her eighties with various problems but is always upbeat and fun, she's a real tonic.
I also tried the Merlin birdsong identification app which I thoroughly recommend for a country walk, as well as all the usual suspects we heard wheatear, chiffchaff, oystercatcher, tree creeper, spotted flycatcher, curlew and over twenty other different birds.
Have a good day, congrats to anyone who has or will be celebrating and commiserations to the sick.14 -

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Happy new specs day! It's fine here but rain and thunderstorms are forecast to appear overnight. That'll save watering all the sad looking pots which have suffered much neglect this summer.
I met up with DF as planned yesterday and it was quieter than usual so we are going to change our day to Thursday now in the hope it wasn't just a one off! Not much got done when I eventually got home, I think all the talking tired me out!
It's Friday Tidy day with a dust and vac up, down and all around. Though I am expecting an interruption at some point as eldest DGD is over to pick up some stuff from home and calling on me before heading back again. I don't see much of her these days.so it will be nice to have a catch up.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. RUBY I hope all went well yesterday. Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, pleased to hear the gardeners were good.
I had the little one overnight on Wednesday, she wasn't very well, coughing and a runny nose so it was an eventful night not helped by the heat. I managed to get her to sleep in her own bed for the first time but things went downhill from there - she fell out of bed, had a raging temperature and couldn't stop coughing so I gave in and took her into the 'big bed' in the front bedroom where it was cooler and she settled down. I slept in three beds - the other single in the kid's room, my own (briefly) and then the big bed. Yesterday was a bit of a challenge! She fell asleep on her way home and apparently is feeling much better this morning.
Hope your new lad was a success Ruby and you get your money back from Rob's family (hope he's ok).
Glad you got an appointment for new specs TA.
Happy new chair day Izzy!
Washing all dried outside yesterday and has been put away. Took the neighbour's dog out for a walk once the little one had gone home and just made it back before the heavens opened.
Baking to do for the allotment open day tomorrow and must go up there to help tidy up and plant some rather late onions (someone gave me some onion sets the other week that they didn't use). May also make some jam if I have time.
Hope everyone is well, take care. XX

Morning everyone
My last day of work today until September, which I'm very happy about as I'm feeling shattered.
Little one and DD are off to Butlins at Skegness this morning, she was here for tea last night, bursting with excitement! Lots of hugs and kisses when she left. I'm hoping that she can manage the whole 10 days without being ill.
We close early today, so I'm planning on going over to my friend when I get back for a cuppa and a catch up.
Hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all from Mehefinland
Mizzle drizzle day today . Spent yesterday whizzing around collecting a boardroom table for the council( it came in parts fortunately), Then I acted as escort to bring the reception class to the library for a performance. It was a bi-lingual thing called Mari Y Mor with lots of singing. It actually turned out to be tri-lingual as they had a BSL signer there as well. The kids were enthralled. Unfortunately I had to leave before the end to get to the doctors for my long awaited appointment.
I have lost so much weight that I was concerned, so I have now got umpteen follow up appointments with various people in the offing. Vampires this morning,as a first step, followed by chest xray etc etc. Was asked if I wanted my prostate checked whilst there which I declined - the GP is a neighbour!! Had it been one of the others I may have considered it. Silly I know , but , well you know what I mean I'm sure. They can do the blood tests first before they start prodding and poking!
Village fete on Saturday so getting geared up for that. We have alpacas coming which could prove 'interesting'. Hopefully the weather should be ok. Then in the evening a concert ( a different choir) in Barry providing I'm not too bushed after the fete. I may as well check them out as its another possible for later in the year.
Got to dash so ta-ra for now.
Hugs and spoons as always.

Morning all
Dry here and meant to be sunny later before rain and storms tomorrow, I have a wash load in the wm so will try and get that dry before the rain comes.
Off to have my nails done this morning which is always a treat for me and we get to have a good chat while she is doing them.
I had a great day with my new lad yesterday we went to football and then I followed them home to their house which was a beautiful cottage in a rural area, his mums parents own the cottage next door as a holiday place and he stays in that when they are not here, both tiny but beautiful houses, we had some lunch together and then spent some time in the garden, then we watched his favourite cartoon and I had to sing along, he had the words printed out, my singing voice is terrible but he didn’t seem to mind 😂
When I got home there was an envelope in the letter box which contained a cheque from Robs mum for the full amount I am owed, no thank you note or anything 🙄 just a cheque, but at least I have got it now. As far as I know Rob is ok he still goes to the day centre I used to take him to and my friends there report back, apparently they have upped his care hours to 12 a day which is something. I am still waiting for the reply to my escalated complaint and have had a reply from the MP saying that they are in touch with the council so at least things are happening behind the scenes.
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and look after this.
Derek I hope the tests come to nothing, it may just be stress causing the weight loss, take care of yourself xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Similar comment from me Derek. It may just.be one of the after effects of losing your Dawn so suddenly. Stress and worry can play strange tricks on you.x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8
