Stansted Parking Fine Advice

Options
A few months ago I was travelling from Stansted. I had paid for drop and go parking for a long weekend.

As I was arriving at the airport I was in the left hand lane and driver in middle lane decided they needed express set down and started cutting me up. I decided to go through express set down rather than potentially have a bump. If I had to pay the £3/4 so be it. I went straight through, on the parking fine letter is says it was under 2 mins so clearly went directly through without stopping. Eventually I arrive at the drop and go parking. Spoke with initial attendant who was guiding me to space and said what happened, he said no problem, speak with reception they will email and get you taken off their system. Go to reception to drop key, they said no problem, take my registration and said they would email. Didn't think anything more about it all good.

Due to my log book being lost and being replaced I hadn't been able to update address on my cars log book. Now in the process of doing this.

My previous landlord gave me my post and within it was the initial parking fine from APCOA saying I had gone through express set down without paying etc, obviously I had missed their deadline. Next letter is from Debt Recovery Plus. Also missing their initial deadline.

What are my options here - I find it impossible to contact directly the drop and go to see if they can confirm that they sent the email absolving me of going through the initial express set down. I can only contact APCOA via the appeal but I'm hesistant to do that as it's already gone through to debt recovery. I have proof and receipts of my payment for the drop and go parking.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If it's gone to debt collectors you can't appeal, it's only APCOA it won't go anywhere.

Thanks James - should I pay or wait it out? I feel I have evidence to support my case for not paying.

    You can ignore APCOA.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
