For quite some period of time E.on have been sending me a monthly email requesting my monthly meter readings.

As a monthly payment customer this arrangement has suited my needs.

Up until recently I have been able to simply tap on the "Give your reading" red button contained within the E.on email. It even states there is no need to log in. Once I click on the red button I am presented with another screen containing three boxes, I simply entered the day reading, the night reading and the date. A confirmation screenshot would then appear stating my readings had been submitted.

Unfortunately, for the last three months I have not been able do this. I still get the monthly email from E.on requesting my readings but when I click the red "Give your reading" button I am unable to access the screen with the boxes where I enter the readings. I get various E.on screens from "Somethings wrong" to "Please log in". I do not have an online account, the email even states " it`s easy, you don`t need to log in - just tap the red button below".

Anyone else had or are having similar issues?

Thankyou

Not recently, but I had a problem sending FIT readings to EON Next a couple of years ago.
I think I emailed the readings through to them instead?
    Also:
I get various E.on screens from "Somethings wrong" to "Please log in". I do not have an online account,
All EON Next customers are able to access their account on-line. If you've not used it before, it will prompt you to create a password when you first log in.

    Many thanks for your reply.

I have been submitting written readings to E.on via email. They even acknowledged receipt on one occasion but my bills keep coming through as estimated. I have contacted E.on about the issue, they inform me they are looking into it but no one seems to get back to me with answers.

If they're not using your emailed readings for billing, you should probably raise a complaint.

Your account is normally associated with your email address they will be sending the requests too - so you might be able to reset a password if done in distant past and forgottten or register one very quickly.

It prompts me to login now to submit readings - but my smart does so anyway - but I had to log in earlier this month - as they didnt send me a new annual estimate with the July cap - or the new rates by email (they have regularly in the past - so a change).

Thankyou for your reply and the link.

I was thinking about raising a complaint but wanted to gather as much information as possible first, hence one of the reasons for this thread to guage whether other E.on customers had any similar issues.

I don`t believe I intimated there was a problem setting up a password.

I was asking whether anyone else had experienced similar issues. I had been successfully submitting my monthly meter readings without logging in, exactly as the screenshot says. Then for no apparent reason ( to me at least ) E.on elect to change the way customers submit their meter readings. If the process has changed and E.on are now stating customers need to sign in with a password, then surely a courtesy explantion from E.on included in their next submit your meter readings email would have sufficed and help confused customers like myself who have never held an online account previously.

Smart meters had been mentioned previously, however, when investigations by E.on into the possibility of a smart meter installation were conducted it became evident it was currently unfeasible due to the absence of a Wide Area Network (WAN) signal in the area.
