Mistake by Initial Parking

Hi all,

I’ve received a NTK from Initial Parking claiming I stayed in a car park for 24 hours.

In reality, I visited on two separate days—paid correctly both times—and left after about an hour on Day 1 and two hours on Day 2.

It looks like their cameras missed my exit on Day 1 and re-entry on Day 2, wrongly assuming I was parked the whole time.

Has anyone dealt with this before?  Where the mistake is entirely on them, and they have proof if they check their cameras.

Thanks!

As above,  very common,  they didn't check for orphan images, in case it was 2 short visits,  not one long visit

ANPR camera systems are definitely unreliable in these cases

Worth telling them you don't owe anything because it's clearly an ANPR double dip.

Will be interesting to see what excuse they come back with.

It's even in their CoP which they should adhere to in order to get your data from the DVLA under the KADOE contract (page 19):-

    https://www.britishparking.co.uk/write/Documents/AOS/Sector Code Templates/sectorsingleCodeofPracticeVersion1.1130225.pdf

"NOTE 1: The manual quality control check for remote ANPR and CCTV systems is particularly important for detecting issues such as “double dipping”, where image camera systems might have failed to accurately record each instance when a vehicle enters and leaves controlled land, and for checking images that might have been taken other than by a trained parking attendant (see Clause 15). The manual check might also reveal where “tailgating” – vehicles passing a camera close together – is a problem, suggesting relocation of the camera might be necessary."
