Hi Guys!
I am buying a £315,000 house for the first time as a solo applicant.
Do I have to pay SDLT if I joint-owned from 2011 to 2015?
Am 'I' a 'first-time' buyer?
No one seems clear on this, not even HMRC!
Thanks in advance!

No, you are not a first time buyer.
It's pretty clear on the ,gov website:SDLTM29845 - Definition of a first-time buyer FA03/SCH6ZA/PARA6
In order to count as a first-time buyer, a purchaser must not, either alone or with others, have previously acquired a major interest in a dwelling or an equivalent interest in land situated anywhere in the world, regardless of the value of that interest.

whats unclear? If you have owned a property before then this is not your first time buying..
Otherwise people would just continuously buy in different groupings, as that group has never bought a property before.0
