Probably better suited for the benefits board.

As her housing benefit is paid slightly less than monthly, she'll mostly have to make up £585.99 each month (£1404.03-£818.04), except for the approx once a year where she will be paid housing benefit twice in the same month (e.g. it's paid on the 1st and the 29th of the same month) where she'll end up receiving £232.05 more than she needs to cover the rent in that month (ideally this should be put in a savings account against future months).

Since the latter event is so uncommon, I'd just plan around needing to contribute £585.99 every month.

You need to calculate the weekly amount of HB and then multiply it by 52 to get annual amount, and then divide by 12 to get a monthly amount. Then take this away from the rent amount.
    818.04/ 4 = £204.51/ week
    204.51 x 52 = 10634.52
    10634.52/ 12 = 886.21 (HB as a monthly amount)
1404.03 - 886.21 = £517.82 left to pay per month out of own pocket.
Has your partner done a benefit check to see if any other entitlements?

In reality it'll fluctuate due to the payment schedules, but on average:

    Rent 1404.03x12=16848.36
    Benefit   818.04x13=10634.52
    Rent minus Benefit=6213.84
    /12= 517.82 per month

Yeesh, that's more than my rent.
