UPVC Front Door

Fourth Anniversary
I bought a black UPVC front door about 12 years ago and is has faded to grey. The warranty was for 10 years. The rep for the company who installed it told me there had been a problem with their supplier, so they changed them a few years ago.
1. Is there any way I can go back to the company and claim for a replacement? They've told me no.
2. If I'm stuck with the door, what is the best paint for it?

Well no because as you say you are out of warranty.

Try Rustoleum they have upvc paint in all kinds of colours

Coloured UPVC is always going to be more vulnerable to the effects of the sun and rain, than white.
Most manufacturers stopped making coloured windows and doors many years ago due to this.

If you buy a coloured UPVC window or door today, it is actually a special film laminated on top that will not fade.

I revived my son’s badly faded south facing front door with Owatrol Polytrol. It was a composite door but the company says it works on plastics, including car bumpers, so it should work on upvc. You could always try it on a small area first.

I was a bit sceptical but the reviews were very good It was one of the easiest DIY jobs I’ve ever done. Paint it on, wipe off the surplus and it’s done. The door looks like new. Surprisingly good.

Nice idea. Worth trying - far easier than painting, and should effectively restore the original finish.

Thumbs up to Owatrol Polytrol. Used it on our green composite door and it came up a treat, as well as being very easy to apply.

I am not saying it will not work on UPVC, but it is a totally different type of material to Composite.
