Morning all, thanks @Gers for today's start. I hadn't realised yesterday was St Swithin's Day and now I'm hoping the folklore isn't true! I'd managed a quick trip to the Co-op before frequent short showers arrived but then we had a really prolonged downpour from about 5pm. No thunderstorms though. All in all, a very soggy day and it felt quite chilly too. Today is supposed to be cloudy (the sun is shining at the moment) but dry and it should feel a little warmer too.
I'll need to go back to the Co-op today or tomorrow for a refund as somehow I've been charged twice for a YS item, once at the reduced price and again at the full price.,I do have a receipt so it shouldn't be a problem, just a minor inconvenience.
On a better note, some of my financial admin has been sorted (to my advantage) so this Friday's admin will include a re-jig of my annual budget - yet again. What used to be a twice a year task seems to have morphed into a monthly one.
In the evening I settled down to watch a Midsummer Murder, a repeat that I hadn't seen before and - wouldn't you know it - the picture was pixellating to the point it was unwatchable. All the other channels were fine so I'm hoping it was just a glitch because of the weather. Not to worry, no doubt it will be repeated (yet again) at some stage.
Usual daily tasks to do plus one wash load while I clean the bathroom. I think the vacuum filter is due a wash too. Tea tonight is a h/m chicken curry courtesy of the freezer with plain boiled rice, strawberries for afters. I might make some naans to go with the curry.
@TA - Fingers crossed all goes well today for your final eye checkup.
@camelot - Glad you enjoyed the Netherlands. Back to normal now!
@Gers - That's how dental appointments should be - quick and no complications!
@Rosy - Have a lovely lunch today with old school friends.
Right, time to make a move so I'll bid you all a good day. Take care, hugs where needed. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all! Been busy with morning appointments this week and OH is still off so getting on the computer is challenging
Came back from Wales with a bootful of towels, sheets and various other linens, so the plumber got some towels [ still in their wrappers] and the charity shops in Bristol will get the rest tomorrow. I'm meeting up with someone to help with their wedding stuff. But we do have a shiny new outside tap which the hosepipe ban won't affect, as I'm exempt too [ luckiy, it's been difficult watering with the cans for me this year] Today I'm doing allotment stuff and goign to OHs mums for tea, always a treat. Spoke to my cousin on Sunday as well , so that was nice, my Italian has deifnitely improved but it's still very clumsy. WeeNancy and TTB, I am also a cookbook hoarder. I love Italian cookbooks so I have some in that language [ requires a lot of Google translate] and some translated, but it never stops me from getting more I like the look of. A lot of them are secondhand though, honest!
TA, well, at least at the end of it yo'll be able to see better...bit of a trek to get there though...camelot, sounds wonderful, glad you had a nice time. Izzy, where are you off to next for a jaunt? Yorkslass, did you get to try a potato salad they make? No idea if it's a whole of brasil dish but a friend makes one and it is to die for. I could happily eat that every day....It has peas, sweetcorn, eggs, sometimes tiny chilli drops in it...and his bbq's are legendary too.. remmie, that's excellent service, well done them! Rosy, have a lovely time and welcome also to the too many cookbook clubRight, I'm off, got stuff to do, ahve a nice day, isn't it so much better after a good downpour?

Morning all
We have torrential rain for an hour or so yesterday and it got very chilly in the afternoon, back to sunshine today which is nice, I have a wash on the go so will hang that out once it’s done.
I had a call from the hospital yesterday cancelling my appointment today as the consultant has gone off sick, they have rearranged it for next Wednesday so not too long to wait.
I am going to take the dogs out after this and then go shopping and also collect my prescription, dinner tonight will be something I buy when at the shop.
I think I told you that the magnolia tree my mum bought me snapped off in the wind a few weeks ago, we bound it back together and have been watering it daily, the top bit had completely died but the bottom bit below the break is growing, it had a few leaves on a it’s just very short atm, we may end up with a dwarf magnolia but I am thrilled it is still with us.
TA hope all goes well today xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
@-taff - Yes, there was potato salad with the ingredients you mention plus a couple of other things, no idea what they were apart from some very finely shredded greens that must have taken ages to cut up. Very, very yummy! There was also another dish that had red kidney beans and some kind of grain in it (not couscous), also delicious, as well as the creamiest rice I've ever had. The steaks that had been prepared with different marinades were melt in the mouth tender and not in the least bit dry or tough. Those Brazilians are definitely "feeders"! There are plans afoot for another couple of BBQs before the summer ends that I'll be looking forward to!Be kind to others and to yourself too.11
