Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for help because I’m struggling with a parking charge situation that’s become quite stressful.
In April, I received three separate ParkingEye charge letters after parking at the ASDA Huddersfield site, where I work. At that time, I had just changed my car and, unfortunately, I forgot to enter my new car’s registration into the staff parking system. It was a genuine mistake and seems to be the root of these charges.

When the letters first started coming in, I told my manager in late April and sent her copies of each notice as I got them. As an ASDA employee, I assumed things would get resolved through management and didn’t file any appeals myself( a decision I know now was probably not the best) Eventually, I got a letter confirming the charge from 7th April was cancelled, with nothing owed. But I never received confirmation from ParkingEye or my manager about the notices for the 11th or 12th.
Despite sending every letter to my manager, today I received a letter from DCBL demanding £170 for an unpaid parking charge, with the date of contravention listed as the 11th of April. I’m really anxious, especially since I believed my manager was handling it, but now it’s escalated unexpectedly.
I know from reading various parking forums that I shouldn’t communicate directly with DCBL and that it’s usually not advised to engage with debt collectors in these cases. I’ve tried searching the forum to see if anyone else has been in this particular situation (forgot to input a new car into the staff system)
but I haven’t found any clear guidance for something exactly like my experience or maybe I don’t know where to look.

So at this point, with the appeal window closed and the matter with a debt agency, is there any way I can still challenge the charges? I have messaged a different manager as well but I fear it may be too late as it’s onto a debt collection agency now
Any insight or advice from anyone who’s been through something similar would mean a lot. Thanks so much for reading.

Ignore DCBL, but once you get a DCB Legal letter you'd probably be best contacting them.
ie. say that you're a member of staff, were working that day and that you were told by management they would cancel. But framed in an aggressive way and that you will defend any court claim. They prey on the vulnerable, so you need to tell them to fck off in effect.
Worst case scenario is that you get a court claim, you defend and they discontinue as they do with 99% of cases.1 -
try a move further up the management chain ...... are you in a union ?1

Why not just ask your manager to email PEye re the 11th and 12th ones, to cancel them?
DCB letters are nothing to be 'anxious' about (I hate that word: it's overused).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
