Is there any way of getting back hotel costs after curtailment?

I had tickets for the final BST events in Hyde Park for Saturday 12th July and Sunday 13th July. I booked a room with Premier Inn for 3 nights from the Friday, planning to stay there until the Monday morning. The hotel was £220 per night and I prepaid by credit card.
Whilst at the first event on Saturday I received notification that the Sunday event was cancelled (due to Jeff Lynn's ill health). On returning to the hotel I asked whether I could be refunded for the Sunday night if I didn't stay there and was told no because the stay had already started. As I could use my train ticket to return home early without penalty I did, and have evidence of doing so.
I will be refunded in full for the event tickets, is there any way I can recoup the cost of the hotel room for the night I didn't use it or do I just write that off? The problem seems to be that the claim would be for curtailment rather than cancellation and the only travel insurance I have is packaged with a Nationwide account. This scenario appears to be excluded.

What did the T&Cs you agreed to state?
I strongly suspect they said no refund, so you're out of luck.0 -

The scenario isn't one of curtailment. You voluntarily decided to return home earlier. The hotel room being accesible to you also.1

The event was curtailed and you are being refunded for that.
There was no problem either the hotel room. You could have stayed and had a day out but you chose to go home

That’s really unfortunate. Since you booked a non-refundable rate and had already started your stay, Premier Inn doesn’t have to refund the unused night.0
