Almost 6yr old parking charge notice

Options
Hi,
I have received "Action Required: Outstanding Balance of £170" for an alleged parking offence in 2019 which I have no record of at all although I do know I was in that area around this time. This is the first notification I have ever received. It arrived prior to me going on holiday and on return from holiday I was greeted with two more letters from enforcement agents, ".warning before further recovery proceedings." This alleged offence is said to have happened in October 2019 at Grays  shopping centre close to London, I think! (which I believe is a private carpark?) I have read somewhere that there is a 6yr time span for the company to chase for the payment and then the debt will then become statute barred? But I'm not sure I don't know if it is a scam as it was such a long time ago, could anyone advise me on what action I could take please? Many thanks

£170 sounds like the usual private parking invoice (no offence, just an alleged breach of contract).

It does become statute barred after 6 years, so when does the clock run out for them?

Can you show us a photo of this "enforcement agent" letter with personal details removed?

All powerless debt collectors letters from ZZPS on behalf of Smart parking , IGNORE THEM

The statute kicks in during October,  so if you can ignore the debt collectors letters and front it out until 19th October,  you are home and dry

To reiterate,  IGNORE them, but come back to this thread if you receive a Letter of Claim from DCB Legal or a similar legal company  ( not ZZPS and not GCTT either   )

    As above.

    Ignore ZZPS and GCTT COMPLETELY.

Come back for the easy (but vital) advice to get this over the line in the final weeks, if you get a LBC from DCB Legal.

Don't go grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory by ignoring DCB Legal in September!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
