Addition as a civil partner to property title deeds.

Back when I owned a business I transferred my property into my partners name to shelter it from any liabilities with that business. Now 30 years later as we look at our IHT planning and we are in a civil partnership we wish to add my name back onto the title deeds to ensure we do not lose any IHT allowance on our primary home. I believe I can do this using a TR1 form and an ID form without involving solicitors and their charges. There is an indemnity policy on the property. Do I need to advise the insurers of the changes to the title deeds? The indemnity policy is in my civil partners name and she remains on the title deeds. I do not wish to create any potential wriggle room for them should at any time we need to use that policy. I am not sure whether this will be viewed as gift for tax purposes as I was previously on the title deeds. I believe there is no gift tax between spouses or civil partners. Any advices on this would be appreciated.

There is no tax on gifts in the UK. If the person making the gift dies within 7 years the the value may fall into their estate for IHT purposes but gifts per-se are not taxed.0

I suspect if you are civil partners, the same IHT treatment happens as if you were a (married) spouse - ie anything the civil partner inherits is not subject to IHT0
