Yes I expect you are absolutely correct there.

If I had a Sainsbury's Bank account I'd probably be minded to keep it and see what happens, but that's just me being curious. In this specific case I don't think there is much to be gained but you never know.

In the case of Tesco Bank I am leaving a credit card open in case down the line it allows a second Barclaycard by the back door (presently they refuse applications if you already hold one). Natwest have no such stipulation.
