It's normal practice that if they want to move a meter, they pay. If you want a meter moved, you pay.Get a mirror. Or take a photo on a camera or mobile phone. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
Surely though it has to be fit for purpose and if the OP and/or meter reader can't read it, then it isn't?1

According to the first post it looks like the previous meter could be read OK, but the new meter with LCD display can't be read at that angle.0

Worth pointing out that any enclosure added by the customer also has to be fit for purpose and it seems perfectly reasonable for the supplier to take the view that that is where the problem lies. The rules are clear - the meter is the supplier's responsibility and the enclosure is the customers. So if the need to replace the meter necessitates either repositioning the meter or changing the enclosure that's for the customer to sort out. It doesn't sound like that is essential in this case so very much for the OP to decide if it merits the expense. I really can't see a complaint leading anywhere.0

Reed_Richards said:But as @MWT suggested, the easiest way to get around that is to take a photo of the meter. When I was having issues with a gas meter, the supplier wanted photos. Trouble was (and still is), very difficult to crouch down in the space, and I don't have any digital devices that would focus close enough. Got cameras that will focus at the macro level, but the field of view is not wide enough (and I'd still need to get the negative scanned). Not everyone has (or wants) an all-singing mobile phone !Her courage will change the world.
