Unsure of rights after cancellation

Options
Hello - my daughter booked an 8 day holiday to France on the holiday pirates website (using loveholiday.com) but the day before she was due to fly, easyJet cancelled the flight and she had to rebook a different flight via easyJet for 2 days later. As such, she lost 2 days of her holiday and therefore had to contact the hotel to let them know she would be arriving 2 days later - loveholidays.com were very little help and she had to do everything herself, and to add insult to injury she had to pay an extra £70 cancellation fee to the hotel (despite losing 2 days). My question is how does she reclaim the money she lost out on? I would assume the airline or travel agents would be responsible and need to refund - any help greatly appreciated.

On the paperwork does the booking show as the elements being linked or not? Is it a package?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Was this due to the French ATC dispute?

I believe it was booked as a package via loveholidays.com but they advised that my daughter would need to rearrange the flight herself. I assume it was cancelled due to strikes.

Has she checked to see if her travel insurance will pay out in this situation?

I shall ask her to check her insurance - however given the changes were out of her control I assumed the travel agent would take responsibility and refund - or am I being naive ?

Why would the travel agent be liable for events totally outside of their control?

Well what’s the point of using one? If I buy a new car and it explodes, the manufacturer  who sold me the car would be liable, therefore if I use someone who I’m paying fee too to sort my holiday out and something goes wrong with the service they offer, I assumed they would be liable - but apparently not!
