Best cases and covers for a Macbook

Recently started a new role and they gave me a Macbook with a soft padded case.
Now the screen has got lines running down it. No idea what happened but having Googled it, this is damage to the LCD which is usually caused by dropping or stepping on the Macbook! Obviously I haven't!
Work will fix it but I really don't want this issue again.
Ideally I'd have a hard cover that fits on the Macbook itself and a really good case as well but any advice welcome.

Have been using a MacBook Pro for 20 years and the only issue I've had was the time it was dropped, 4 floors, even then despite being bent it continued to work for another year before the screen died and was working when on an external screen until the day I sold it.
Macs have an aluminium case, adding a couple of mm of plastic isnt going to do much beyond making the thing more bulky and potentially interfere with its ability to get rid of heat. If you have to do something to it would suggest a softer material is better to absorb some impact and make it less slippery. But its a work computer by the sounds of it so wouldnt bother doing anything to it... if they wanted it in a hardshell they'd have given you one.0
