Eco flow warranty issue

Options
Hi folks. This one is a bit of a pain so I’ll try to keep it short.

I bought 2 EcoFlow products last year; I live on a boat and needed a generator and battery pack for my off grid power. The generator died within 30 hours of use (less than 3 months-the warranty was for 2 years). Contacted EcoFlow and they refused to honour the warranty as I bought it from a third party seller, who thankfully ended up stepping in and giving me a full refund.

The power station has now also died (it blew up almost exactly a year after I bought it!). Warranty on that is 5 years. Bought from EcoFlow on Amazon so contacted them there. They said they would arrange to collect it from me and send me out a brand new one. Then they told me they didn’t have any in stock so would I accept a refurbished one. I said no, but that I would accept a refund instead. They said they could offer a partial refund (about 30% less than I paid) to which I also said no.

2 other people I know also have EcoFlow products, all of which became faulty within their warranty periods, and all of which EcoFlow are not honouring. Now these things aren’t cheap, about 1.5k new for each unit.

What are my rights here? It’s turned into an email fight which is making me very uncomfortable every time I open my inbox. And they still haven’t even collected the old one. Do I need to accept the refurbished replacement or partial refund?

any help gratefully received!

If EcoFlow repaired your current generator, it would effectively be a refurbished one. So offering a refurb as a replacement seems fair to me.
As for the 70% refund, let's imagine the product has a five year life. You've had it for one year already, so that's 20% of its value. What would it cost to replace with a uear-old used one? 70% of the purchase price might be a reasonable value.

I'd accept the refurbished one.  Ask if it comes with its own warranty period, or whether the warranty clock on the original keeps ticking, or if there's a warranty at all.

You're not entitled to a full refund, so accepting a partial refund or a refurbished unit would be sensible.
