Samsung Bespoke Jet Pro Extra Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner and Samsung Warranty

Options
Hi

We have the Samsung Bespoke Jet Pro Extra Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner which is purchased a couple of years ago.  The unit came with a 5 year guarantee.  Over the past few months, the unit has been reporting itself as being clogged.  However, following taking the unit apart, cleaning it and trying again, the problem keeps coming back.

We decided to send the unit back to Samsung for repairs.  The unit has been checked and the authorised service partner is claiming that the motor has failed due to dust getting through the filter which is A  result of a lack of maintenance on our part.  We obviously do not agree with this as we have been looking after the unit and apart from this issue it is in good almost new condition.  However, Samsung are not honouring the warranty.

The service partner wants just over £170 to mend it, so it is, , in my opinion, virtually written off.

We are just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with this vacuum cleaner and the Samsung warranty.

Many thanks as always for any thoughts and comments.

Matt

It's a bit of a niche request.  I wouldn't worry about finding someone else with the same problem, just deal with your own situation.

First things first, is there a real problem, or simply that the appliance is self-reporting a problem, a report that can be ignored?  Samsung say the motor has failed but you seem to suggest it's working?

Assuming it does no longer work properly, you can exercise your consumer rights with whichever retailer you bought it from.  Warranty is a separate matter.  Have you spoken to the retailer?  Is it Samsung themselves?
