Fare Share Qualifying Conditions Other Nationwide Accounts

Hi All,
Here's one to watch out for.
I have qualifying accounts for the fair share and have enough money being paid into the account from a client.
I wasn't aware that the client was paying from a Nationwide account and wouldn't know how to check this but this made my fair share payment void.
I only knew why because I phoned them to ask why I didn't receive it; the nice lady explained why and put a query in for me. She just got back today to say they have refused to pay me.
If I'd have known this was the case, I could have moved it into my Halifax account and paid it back in from there.
I'm a bit annoyed about this and tempted to close all my Nationwide accounts including my Childrens.
Hope this helps someone else.

That is unusual. Where banks require a minimum pay in, it is often the case that other accounts you hold with the same bank do not qualify, but an exception is often made for (unconnected) third party accounts. I'd be tempted in your case to make a formal complaint, as you were genuinely using this account, not artificially manufacturing transactions to meet the rules like many of us who qualified.3

Nationwide's T&Cs are quite clear.(transfers in from other Nationwide accounts do not count)and you could have qualified under the alternative account use ofIn two of the three months of January 2025, February 2025 and March 2025, you must have made at least 10 payments out of your current accountI note that incomings from my other Bank are "Bank Credit" but incomings from other NW accounts are "Transfer from" outgoings are "Payment" and "Transfer to" respectively.
Nationwide are not going to be able to tell the difference between "unrelated" accounts and friends/family/neighbours/work colleague/random strangers accounts...
Note that a Business Account may be needed for Client payments IN... Employers would transfer money via BACs in most cases.1 -
I would interpret the "transfers in from other Nationwide accounts" as meaning other NW accounts you own to stop you bouncing money between your current and savings accounts. It's pretty harsh to exclude you because someone else paid you from their NW account and certainly against the spirit of the reward. Definitely worth a complaint, if you can be bothered!1

You can tell when incoming payments are from a Nationwide account because, unless they've recently changed the system, the payment doesn't show you the other person's name, just the sort code and account number. As mentioned above, it's also described as a transfer.
In any case, if you tell Nationwide that the payment was from a "client" they will very likely close your account as you shouldn't be using it for business purposes.0 -

e.g. instead of transfer from 070116 00000000 now transfer from Sam Jones1
