How do you 'stop' people copying web page?

I have been on some websites, where if you try to copy/paste the graphics or typing a box pops up stopping you saying something like 'you cannot copy this'.
I wondered if it's possible to do this on my ebay listings..
If it is, how can I do it?

Its been a while since I read about this so it might be out of date but I think
all you can do is disable the right click function to stop the "save" function but sometimes that can be defeated by highlighting the image then going to menu and copy.. That and most browsers download the image to cache on the PC anyway so they already have it.
Dont know if these scripts are still ok or if better exists but you could give them a try..
One is for text the other for images..

As for using them on Ebay... couldnt tell you0 -
You can't do it effectively.... if your HTML is available (view source), then it can be taken. There is no good way of hiding it0

ringo is correct.
Scripts that stop you copying are usually javascripts. You can either disable java, or just go to "file" and then look at the source code of the web page to take the information from it.
What you put on the internet is publically available. Ebay by default would copyright your listing so if someone copies you, you can report them and it will get taken down.
If its an image you want to protect, then put a watermark on it with your username going across the image

all the above will help, but it will only stop the casual net user.
anyone with google and a bit of nous, can find remedys to the above.
if its digital it can be encoded. and it can be decoded.Get some gorm.0 -
Your only possible option is to use Flash and embed the content into that. Images could be taken with screenshots, but that's about the only way i know to 'protect' web content0

Thanks.
I know that if someone wants to copy, they will find a way, but I just wanted to make it harder for people who aren't too techie minded.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
For images best way is to put watermark thought them.
For text you can you javascript to disable the right button click but this does not stop them from viewing the source to copy it.
A lot of people may not understand html so it be safe from a lot people.
they are the two best ways to do it the rest are bit more complicated.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
There's a couple of sites I'd like to explore that use anti-copying.
I'm used to middle-clicking links in Firefox to open pages in new tabs and any anti-copying usually completely disables that.
It's a bit silly because with a few clicks I bypass it, but I usually just don't use the sites because of the hassle0
