As per the title
I have a debt that has not been defaulted yet, but should have been.
Originally from Avant Credit, sold to Debt Managers and now to intrum.
No one has defaulted me for this, should I speak to Avant or Intrum to backdate and sort the default as they are now the owners?

If it's been sold to Intrum, they are now the owners and should have a record of the default date.0

Usually your account would have defaulted before being sold to a company such as Intrum.
However, a few years ago, Avant Credit were in dire straights over their cash flow, and offloaded a ton of accounts to raise some capital, now its possible yours was one of these accounts, so it may not have defaulted, and been sold as a live account, as you say.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I also had another intrum account that was giving me a notice of default if I hadn't resolved it before the 25th.... I phoned up and paid £5 to cover it whilst on the phone.
Turns out not only Avant Credit have been doing the same (selling on without defaulting) but also Creation finance for stores like benson beds etc.
I have been paying them directly but over the last three months they have NOT forwarded payments.
Meaning that the new owners Intrum were threatening me with a default, good that I read the letter properly and sorted immediately, would have ruined by credit file for another 6 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So FYI, if you are paying Creation and they have sold it to Intrum, best check ASAP!
@sourcrates so I guess I need to speak to Intrum to backdate the default from Avant in this case?
