Crossed Smart Meter
Options
Has anyone been the unfortunate position of having a "crossed meter"? This is where a different set of smart meter equipment identifiers (GUIDs) than the ones you physically have have been assigned to your property or MPAN.
I've been in this position since October when a couple of weeks previously I had to have a replacement gas smart meter fitted and somehow a complete set of smart metering IDs (electric meter, gas meter, gas proxy, comms hub, IHD) have been assigned to my address at the DCC and I've not been able to get any usage data and accurate billing since. I'm with Octopus and they've been a nightmare to deal with despite getting a resolution passed in my favour via the energy ombudsman.

Yes, crossed meters crop up a few times a year on this forum. And yes, they take a while for suppliers to sort out, even when the supplier is proactive on doing so.If you've been to the Ombudsman already, I'm not sure there's much more the forum can do beyond offering moral support.N. The GUIDs you refer to are the MAC addresses of the network interface cards in the devices concerned. A complete set will be recorded against the MPAN by the DCC, but the link between the MPAN and the meter is recorded, I think, by Elexon. If the wrong Meter Serial Number (MSN) is attached to an MPAN, the associated MAC addresses will be those of the meter and ancillary devices at a different supply. It's your supplier's responsibility to inform the DNO and Elexon of the MSN of the device installed at a particular supply point. Once the MSN is properly recorded against its MPAN in the central database, DCC should eventually get the right MAC addresses to enable it to do its job of connecting network users to customers' meters. I'm not sure how that happens, and it might involve a site visit.I'm not being lazy ...
