    The FIT is the feed in tariff payment that goes to whoever owns the panels, assuming that there were still FIT payments at the date the panels were installed.
    It is made up of a generation payment and an export payment.
    The export is any electricity that you do not use yourself.

    These payments will depend on the exact date of the installation, and can be quite large.

    Our panels were installed some 12/13 years back, so we have the highest level of FIT.   Each kWh of generation earns us something around 70p, then for what we export there is also a payment.   

    This can be “deemed” and is then assumed to be half of what is generated, or metered.   
    Metered  export generally gets a higher payment, in our case 15p per kWh.
