An Amazon vent

We have a 5 year old TV; the picture is fine but the sound (speakers) have failed to the point we have to turn it on max to hear anything and it often distorts.  Rather than buy a new TV we saw an Amazon Fire soundbar with money off.  I ordered it on 8th July because the ad said "Prime next day delivery".

Order update (10th July) - still not dispatched.

So I chat with customer service and they say "this is an estimated date and not a guarantee.  once the item is purchased, we have to calculate where it's coming from and where it's being delivered to".  So I now have a delivery estimate of 14th July.  That's 8 days from when I purchased it.

I said I wanted to cmplain about this, because if they can't guarantee next day delivery then the "Prime next day" or Prime one-day" tag should be removed from the ad as it's misleading.  They said they will raise it with management, I'm not holding my breath.

I dislike being walked over and these companies need to know that they can't just get away with advertising anything they want to make a sale, and then not delivering what they have stated.  If I had known it would take this long, I might have just bought a different one from Richer Sounds or Argos or somewhere I could have just paid and taken it home.

I must have ordered thousands of items on Amazon with prime delivery over the years, the number of next-day misses has been vanishingly small

And don't forget with somewhere you could have paid and taken it home might have been out of stock!

When you order it normally tells when delivery is expected.

It also states on your confirmation email when delivery is expected.

As it has not been dispatched you should be able to cancel it and go and buy one from Richer Sounds.

All valid points above.  But it's the principle I disagree with.  It's fine to state " free delivery", but not "one day" or "next day" if that is dependent upon where the item is, where you live and what capacity they may or may not have to deliver it.

Anyway, they have apologised and fast tracked the order with DPD at their expense.  I have been a Prime member for 14 years so I'm happy with the outcome.

Yes, so why use different wording on the advert, if not to imply something you're not going to honour fully at the checkout?

They are too big to care OP

Obviously not exclusive to Amazon as you can buy it on Lego (and Tesco by the looks of it). So much going on, no one bothering to keep taps, mainly run by an algorithm and they can do whatever they want.

A Prime day deal popped up for aTV with 55% off, Googled the model number, deal price seems the standard, a couple of places were cheaper....

    Just shop elsewhere...

If one is logged in with a default address in their system then the delivery date is dynamic. If I switch between my home and office address the delivery date can sometimes change, especially for weekends. Deliveries can of course be delayed, it does clearly state at point of order, before any money has been taken, what day they aim to deliver.

Terms and conditions apply. Probably greater than 99% of deliveries are delivered next day, the threshold for that in advertising law is well below that to be able to claim next day delivery and it would be clumsy to have to state "Nearly everyone will get next day delivery, but some people in some parts of the country might have to wait an extra day and occasional delays can occur with courier deliveries". It seems you are trying to make something out of this when there is nothing to make.

How do I know which products are eligible for Prime One-Day or Same-Day delivery?

Look for products with the Prime badge:

It was around £24 for the Prime Day deal, once Prime Day ended it switched to a limited time deal at the Prime Day price, now it's a limited time deal at full price

I know it's not the crime of the century, and to be honest it's not just about my one order, it's about the principle of showing a "next day" or "one day" tag on the advert when it would be just as easy to just show "Free Prime Delivery" which is far less misleading.

One should not have to read and interpret caveats when a claim has been made in the main advert.  I wouldn't put a sign in my shop saying "free apples" and then when you got to the till, show you a card that says "**only free if you live in Didcot and your Uncle's middle name is Clive**".

As it turns out, after I complained to Amazon about this they apologised profusely and said they'd expidite my order, which was then delivered a day later than the original estimate anyway.  So it was 6 days from order to receipt, which is weird for a Prime item.

And by the way, this is a venting part of the forum so I'm allowed to "make something" of this issue if I want
