Some people are saying that they can now see details of interest on their savings accounts in their PTA screen. Others say not.
The guidelines for the BBSI return were updated in Oct 24 and still say

"HMRC requires UK banks and building societies to submit information annually about interest paid or credited to ‘reportable persons’.

This information is used to pre-populate customer tax accounts. It informs:

  • the issue of PAYE notices of coding and tax calculations
  • checks to make sure Self Assessment tax returns are accurate and complete"

This is ambiguous wording and does not confirm that they send this through to the PTA.

    Does anyone know more ?

I think they're two separate things. The return from banks is used to inform tax code and SA checks. This doesn't mean the details of interest are available in the PTA other than the final figure used. Maybe someone of these 'some people' can post what details they're seeing over and above that?

Interesting.  I can still only see two different values.

The amount included in my tax code in one place and then the total in another.  And this matches what I would expect to see (as a total) assuming 2023-24 is the latest information currently being used.

Are you saying some people can now see the individual bank account details, not just a total 🙏

Does this mean, when filling in a self assessment, the system now shows the interest that providers have submitted?

No, have never ever seen interest details pre-populated on a Self Assessment return.

As far as i understand, the PTA shows a total. You can contact HMRC to ask for the breakdown of bank & declared values

In the early days of bank declarations, it was possible to access a beta version of the individual bank returns in one's PTA.

IIRC it started off readily available, then HMRC took it down.

Then a 'hack' existed for several months allowing access the data but AFAIK that route has been shut for several years.

You're all correct.  I think the comments I saw must have been mistaken.
The position is still that only the total shows, and details are available on request.
I can't find any further evidence of plans to start pre-populating details.

Assuming your interest amounts for 22-3 and 23-4 weren't the same, did you get a P800 for both years ?
I think that they might not issue a P800 if the amounts agree with the BBSI feed, the tax deducted during the year corresponds with those amounts and there are no other changes.

Hi yes thanks for that sorry what I mean is, my tax summery was completed in December 2024 how ever it shows the same figure as the year before with no change. I didn’t receive a p800, the amounts domt tally with what I have. Thanks for the detailed response.
