Parking Fine Euro Car Park - Incorrectly Keyed Registration Plate ?!

I purchased a ticket and left within my time frame of 2 hours no problem.

Euro Carparks sent me a fine, having appealed they replied saying appeal failed! ...theyare saying that it was a keying issue with my registration into the machine.
I have the ticket as evidence - it does only show the first 3 characters of my Registration (I don't know why) I do remember the machine being a bit weird but I thought I had done it correctly.
I have my payment on apple pay as evidence.
I have my bank statement as payment evidence.

In the reply from Euro Car Parks they are suggesting I can pay 20 pounds and the case will be closed.... BUT WHY SHOULD I!

I paid the for the ticket I left in the time, I have the evidence EXCEPT there is an apparent keying issue regards my number plate. The parking company have had my 1.50 they have not suffered loss.

I have taken the option to appeal to POPL but I am worried and it is effecting my anxiety bad! - I dont know what to do.

This is why ... the machine failed:

Lots of news articles this year about Euro Car Parks and Excel P&D machines accepting any digits then moving on to the payment screen.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH POPLA. You'll lose because it's not fully independent or fair.

Ignore the £170 threatograms. See the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread.

Tell Euro if you move house. Check every letter and laugh. Relax! Come back if you get a DCB Legal LBC. See the 2nd post of the NEWBIES thread.

£20,000 in keying error cases at Kent Country Parks alone. Imagine the figure for the whole country.

That journalist's figures actually seem to show that 994 people paid the £20. Not that only 994  fell foul of this scam. It would have been at least double, I suspect, because surely half of people see this £20 for what it is!

So if almost one in five pay £20 on top of their tariff, then you could guesstimate that keying errors caused by the machines are happening maybe a THIRD if the time. Am I wrong?

Anyone got time please to email the journalist and:

    1. praise her for her articles (she's featured more than once in the Parking jn the News /Media thread).

    2. send her the link to the Public Consultation thread here and ask her to please submit her evidence and FOIs to the MHCLG which she could do by email as long as she identifies who she is (as the survey explains).
