Asking for CCTV coverage

Hi All
My car was damaged at a Suez Recycling Facility today. Do you think they would give me CCTV coverage? Would that be a SAR ? As the car was parked but I was behind the wheel I'm not sure if my Aviva insurance would cover for the scratch to the car if I an not compensated.

What damaged the car?
Your insurance will cover the damage although if they can't recover costs it will count as a fault claim.

You're only a data subject for the purposes of a SAR if you're in the CCTV footage, you can't demand it just because your car is. You can of course ask nicely and see what happens.1

The registration plate is Personally Identifiable Information and so if you are the registered keeper of the car you can do a SAR.user1977 said:You're only a data subject for the purposes of a SAR if you're in the CCTV footage, you can't demand it just because your car is. Pre GDPR, it always used to be a problem for us in claims trying to get CCTV footage as the owners (councils were the worst offenders) would argue that they cannot give us the video because it identifies other people by virtue of their registration plate (or them being personally visible) in the footage and so would only supply it if we paid £1k for it to be edited to remove the others. Most the time they wouldnt even confirm if the CCTV captured the collision before we pay for the editing.1 -
Your insurance will try to obtain it. It's what you pay them for0

They may or they may ask you to do a dSAR as you have a statutory right to data about you but your insurer doesnt.m0bov said:Your insurance will try to obtain it. It's what you pay them for0
