£205 (-£36, so £169 net) for switching to Santander

Options
Just got my newsletter and this offer caught my eye.
Has anyone tried it? I already done it once (it was some time last year) with First direct and it went without a hitch. What about Santander?

Why are you deducting the £36?

If it's for 12 monthly £3 fees for the Edge current account then you can avoid the fee and get the £180 switching cash by following my guide here.

Easier again is to just go for the Everyday current account which has no fee and is eligible for the switching offer.

The £25 Amazon gift card is a separate offer so you need to use this link when opening your Edge or Everyday current account.

    Thanks Danny.
Which offer would give you access to the savings account at 6% for 1 year? (Ok, only 4K, but might as well..)

That's the Edge saver account, which would require you to go with the Edge current account.

Before you do anything, make sure you didn't have any current accounts with Santander on 1st January 2025. And you haven't received switching cash from them before.

Also make sure the direct debits you choose to use are from the list of household direct debits.

If you want to avoid the £3 monthly fee and get the full £180 switching cash, then follow my guide to the letter. Avoiding the fee means you can't get cashback on debit card or direct debit spends.

To get the £25 Amazon gift card, use this link when applying, as it's a separate offer.

Blast, I may not be able to do it. Outfox the market is not listed and the only other one would be Vodafone (assuming the one they list is the correct one). There is no TV licence either :( I have other smaller DD, but they are not listed.
My other half pays council tax, so that is listed, but I don't pay it.
    Should I forget about it?

I remember someone else asking about TV licence, I have no idea why it's not included.

Vodafone should be fine. I assume it's Vodafone UK you're with and not Vodafone in another country?

Maybe sign up to something like the cheapest Lebara deal you can get by direct debit, £5 per month I think? There are no contracts so you can just cancel the direct debit as soon as you get your switching cash.

Or ask your other half to change the council tax direct debit to your new Edge account? You can change it back after receiving the switching cash.

What about utilities like electricity, gas, water? Can any of these be your second direct debit?

This household list is new with this offer, prior to this you could use any direct debits.

I am with Lebara (and I recommend it) one very cheap rolling contract, but I am not sure I have a DD. I thought they only had my card. I had a look at the app and it doesn't say anything specific.
Yes, my broadband is with Vodafone in the UK ;)

Update: no the Lebara thing is not via a DD. :(

I'll need to move the council tax, then...

I think Lebara is a recurring debit card payment and so not a direct debit. Not sure why it's even on the list if they don't offer direct debits. 🙄

I see IDmobile is on the list, never used them but they offer SIM only deals like Lebara, but with direct debits.

You only need the direct debit to be set up and active when Santander assess your account, 60 days after starting your switch.
