Help. I can't open my dishwasher!

Hello, as per the title, I can't open my dishwasher. The handle became increasingly stiff over a few weeks.

It's a Smeg DDC6-1 and looks like this.

You push your fingers into the part just under the Smeg logo, and the upper part of the flap folds down - you then kind of pull it towards you to open, but it seems the mechanism which triggers the door to open is damaged. It feels a bit different, like my fingers connect with a rough edges of something rather than a smooth surface. Any ideas on a fix? It was installed several years ago, 2016, I think.  Thanks

Sometimes powering off things, counting to 20, and powering on again can help them figure things out.

In days of old I'd grab the door both sides near the top and give it a good tug.

Are you sure you haven't accidentally activated a child lock?

Got this from a google search regarding Smeg DDC6-1:-

Thanks everyone. I had to call an appliance repair person in the end. There was a little button inside that still enabled the door to be opened. It turns out the handle had developed a fault and the plastic part needs replacing. The part will only be a tenner, but they need to order it.
