Congrats on the outcome. So should we avoid any insurers that have AXA as the underwriter?0

Fortunately, most of us never have to claim on travel insurance.
I have only ever had to claim once on travel insurance and that was a policy underwritten by AXA. In my case, the claims handling was simple, straightforward and fairly resolved in a good timescale so I had nothing to complain about.
It would be equally not sensible to make an "only-AXA" decision based on my one case.

Unfortunately, the whole process of claims handling tends to be outsourced. At the point of buying an insurance policy, it is impossible to know who would be processing any claims that might later be made.
I would urge people to use review sites intelligently: not give a review of an insurance policy unless you have to make a claim; give reasonably detailed reviews, both positive and negative, of any claims experience, and such reviews should identify any companies that were involved in processing the claim.1
