Santander Current Account Questions

Options
I have the above current account - no loans and no overdraft, no applications and no renewals due. They did a "soft" search on my credit file out of the blue and found my mortgage listed on there. They have asked me to send that mortgage statement from another bank to them even though each month the mortgage is paid from this current account. I have never been in arrears or defaulted a loan and have no CCJs. I do understand about the new KYC. Know your customer rules but this seems intrusive. They have also asked me about my income as well which is fair enough to check for money laundering I suppose. What do I do...If they are checking for affordability then will they ask for my partners income from Barclays Bank next  -he won't do that! I have had the account for 39 years (abbey national days). Where will it all end?

    Affordability of what?!
I'd simply say good-bye to overzealous idiots  - Santander doesn't offer anything good now except their Edge Saver.

If they are checking for affordability...
They are not checking for affordability of anything. If you want to keep the account, you have no choice but to answer their questions. You can transfer to another bank (unless they have discovered something really bad), but, sooner or later, it will be question time. Banks have to ask questions like these to comply with the law to avoid big fines.

Anything you are aware of that may have triggered this intrusive line of enqury. There's no smoke without a fire.
